The Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005, requires those responsible for workplaces to carry out their own fire assessments and most insurers insist that kitchen canopy filters and ducts are cleaned annually by an independent contractor. Should the responsible person fail to carry out fire risk assessments and a fire causes injury or death, the person responsible maybe liable to criminal prosecution.
